CWF GameCast Episode 41: Holiday Gift Guide 2010

Co-hosts Jonathan J. Reinhart and Tom Barbalet discuss the 2010 Holiday Gift Guide. This return to the annual gift guide highlights our picks for this holiday season.

Our respective weeks in gaming includes Jonathan discussing the book Spies of the Balkans by Alan Furst as inspiration for Flames of War. Tom discusses his Noble Warfare simulation as it has grown out of the Noble Ape software.

The bulk of the show focuses on the Holiday Gift Guide. We share our picks, which can be seen at CWF Holiday Gift Guide 2010. One thing we do not mention in the podcast is to purchase a gift certificate from with the FLGS where the gamer(s) in your life shop and play. That is a great gift if you don’t quite know what they want or need.

The show winds down with Jonathan discussing how to play War at Sea online in a Play by e-Mail (PBeM) type setup using Skype and a set of online maps. He recommends this to Tom and for all gamers who don’t have WASers nearby to play with.

A brief discussion of Tom’s Wikipedia entry and his fandom including one person at a recent NPR recording who exclaimed in delight “IT’S YOU!”

Jonathan reminds listeners that our first guest, J. James Beaudoin who is the CEO of FrakMedia Productions LLC. (they operate the Battlestar Galactica Wiki) will appear in Episode 42 (releasing December 6th, the day before WoW: Cataclysm).

Jonathan closes out the show with a plea for listeners to give to the less fortunate this holiday season. He highlights The Whiz on Rte 9 East in Westborough, MA as a Toys for Tots drop off location. Please bring a new and unwrapped toy or game to The Whiz and leave it at the designated Toys for Tots bin. Or, donate your Whiz Rewards and The Whiz will donate 110% of its value to Toys for Tots.

As always we conclude with a message from our sponsor, 12-7-Games.com, and contact information (find us on Facebook and Twitter).
