Wargaming Recon #93: Interviewing Jonathan Part 1

Interviewing Jonathan.

Ever wonder what makes Jonathan tick? Listener Aaron Bostian turns the tables, takes the mic, and serves as host for this special episode.

Jonathan is in the hot seat while Aaron interviews him about his life and gaming. We hope you enjoy this peak behind the curtain.

Aaron’s Questions:

  • How did you specifically develop an interest in historical wargaming, especially with those 10mm tall figures?
  • Do you remember a particular moment when you saw a miniatures tabletop wargame for the first time? Do you remember your first impressions?
  • Why are you particularly interested in the American War for Independence, or, as those of us living in the States like to call it, the American Revolution?
  • You’ve talked about not being a very good figure painter. What are the reasons you don’t like to paint figures? Have you tried any of the quick painting methods?
  • How to you divide your hobby time into percentages? I know most divide their hobby time into painting and playing, but you spend a lot of time thinking and talking about historical wargaming, particularly with your podcasting efforts. How much spent painting figures, how much time spent playing historical wargames, and how much time spent thinking/writing/talking about historical wargames? You put a good deal of effort into promoting your podcast—how much time in a given week do you spend on these efforts?
  • You spend a good deal of your free time involved with wargaming. But what are some of the non-wargaming activities you enjoy?
  • The bunnies have been in the background of some WR episodes. Why do you keep bunnies as pets and what do you like about them?

Well done guys, a good episode – though I’m not sure how I’m going to fit all that ice cream and all those rabbits onto the wargames table! :-D

Thanks for all the name-checks too, you’ve made me blush with so many mentions.

Looking forward to number 100, Jonathan. Good luck!
