Although we are a blog dedicated to New England gaming we are accessed from across the globe. I looked in Woopra today at the stats and everything seemed in order. We have almost 30,000 unique visits since Woopra was installed but I stumbled across something really surprising.
Woopra lists the languages used by visitors and English, of course, is the most popularly used. Coming in at #2 is German with almost 4% of visitors speaking German. Below is a list of the top 10 languages used by visitors and their percentages.
- English 75.4%
- German 3.57%
- Unknown 3.46%
- French 3.2%
- Spanish 2.63%
- Polish 1.91%
- Italian 1.87%
- Dutch 1.35%
- Portuguese 1%
- Russian .78%
This says that almost 20% of visitors do not speak English as their first language and may have some difficulty fully using the blog. To combat that I decided to translate this blog into each of those languages. This is now a NEW FEATURE.
Visitors to the blog can automatically translate any post, page, etc on this blog into another language. The sidebar on the right has a widget titled TRANSLATOR. The visitor need only click the flag representing the language they wish to use and the blog will automatically be translated. It may take a moment of two for the translation to complete so please be patient.
Visitors can also use some short cuts that will work for some of the languages.
- German https://wargamingforums.com/de
- French https://wargamingforums.com/fr
- Spanish https://wargamingforums.com/es
- Polish https://wargamingforums.com/pl
- Italian https://wargamingforums.com/it
- Dutch https://wargamingforums.com/nl
- Portuguese https://wargamingforums.com/pt
- Russian https://wargamingforums.com/ru
In addition to the above languages visitors can also choose from the following
- Chinese (Simplified)
- Chinese (Traditional)
- Arabic
- Catalan
- Filipino (for my friend Paul)
- Hebrew
When we see more visitors using other languages we will activate them as well.
Lastly, we have purchased another domain name. Visitors can access us using the shorter URL of WarAtSea.net. It automatically redirects to WarGamingForums.com for your pleasure.
