3rd Annual Warhammer 40k Megabattle Pictures

Battleground Games Logo

Here are the promised pictures from Battleground Games’ 3rd Annual Warhammer 40k Megabattle.  Earlier we live-blogged the event  sharing remarks from the participants along with our own observations.

We took 200+ pictures over 4 hours.  Unfortunately a bunch of them were dreadful so we deleted those leaving behind 150+ decent pictures.  As usual we are putting the call out to all others who have pictures from the event.  We wish to share them in this single location for everyone’s viewing pleasure.

Even after that a lot of them are poorly exposed or blurry.  The camera I used wasn’t my usual and that resulted in some dreadful pictures.  I’m hoping Photoshop can clean them up enough transforming them into something decent.  Rather than make you wait for the finished product I share the first shots here.

If you have any pictures please contact me at cwfgamecast@wargamingforums.com.  Or feel free to call, txt, IM, post on the BG forums, or let me know in person.

3rd Annual Warhammer 40k Megabattle for Battleground Games

Reporting live from the third annual 40k megabattle hosted by Battleground Games in Abington.

The event is wrapping up it’s fifth turn and the game as well. The forces of Disorder have made a win by their opponents impossible by obliterating all enemy troops on the Moon table.

They credit their success to a gigantic Titan and superior intelligence. The battle wages on in the sewers where Order is slowly decimating evil’s vile stench. Or maybe that is the decomposing bodies.

The gigantic center table is up for grabs despite a valiant struggle from the Imperium’s air force.

We have tons of pics to share once their uploaded. Hopefully we’ll soon have the results. As always we eagerly wait the video footage.

Space Hulk Limited Edition: Thoughts

Recently a friend of mine purchased the Space Hulk Limited Edition and invited me to square off in a 1 vs 1 match.  I’m familiar with the second edition of the game and thought it’d be fun to play this limited edition.  It was.

There’s been a lot of hype and reviews of the game.  Most of the reviews I’ve seen have great things to say.  The Table Top Battlefield podcast did an entire episode (Season 3 Episode 19 (listen here)) reviewing the game with several of the hosts declaring it a contender for game of the year.

Playing this with my friend was a lot of fun.  The tiles look nice, the models are expertly sculpted, the printing is good, and game play is a blast.  But, I have one huge concern with this game.  The lack of value.

Server Move = Potential Downtime

We are hosted by BlueHost, which is a wonderful hosting service for blogs running WordPress.  They have informed me that they will be moving us to another less populated server within 48-72 hours.  The server we are currently on is getting fuller and BlueHost wants to ensure that they provide optimal service.  They will try to do the actual move overnight to minimize the impact.

We will be actively monitoring the situation during the move.  There shouldn’t be any hiccups, BlueHost is very good, but any server move comes with some risks ranging from data loss to extended downtime.

During the move there may be some problems accessing the blog.

War at Sea: Flank Speed Stat Card Movie

I thought it’d be fun to do something special for everyone who loves the digitized War at Sea cards I’ve shared.  We recently finished digitizing the Flank Speed stat cards and they look incredible (I know I know…self praise is no praise).

Using my iMac I crafted a movie slideshow of the Flank Speed stat cards, set it to music, and have it ready for your viewing pleasure.  I need to mention that it is a little long and those of you with slow internet connections will not want to view the movie.

If you’re afraid that your connection isn’t up to par then please do not view the video.  Otherwise…
