War at Sea: Condition Zebra Stat Card Gallery Update

War at Sea: Condition Zebra was released about a week ago and I didn’t even notice. I recently got married and completely forgot about CZ’s release.

Don’t worry, because a case of Condition Zebra is on the way into my grubby mitts. As soon as it arrives I will immediately begin scanning all of the stat cards. The scans will be uploaded in batches for your viewing pleasure.

There is one potential change to the scanning project. Usually I purchase four or more cases of each set. I have decided to limit myself to a single case of CZ. As such it may take me some time to obtain some units and their stat cards.

All scans will continue to be high resolution 600dpi color scans. As with all the scans the Condition Zebra ones will fall under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share alike 3.0 Unported license (as is everything on this blog). You must adhere to that license in order to use the scans.

Please enjoy the scans I do share while I hunt down any vagrant units.

War at Sea: Spotlight on Danaussie’s Custom Model Painting

War at Sea is a wonderful CMG (collectible miniatures game) but many people overlook the hobby side of the game.  The models are nicely sculpted and painted but they are not always historically accurate.  There is a growing number of gamers who collect the models to do more than just play the game.  They customize the models by converting and/or painting them.

Axis & Allies ForuMINI member Danaussie is one of those individuals.  He recently wowed me when he posted several pictures of his newly custom painted USS Baltimore.  After seeing those pics I knew I needed more.  Dan, a resident of beautiful Canberra in the Land Down Under, has kindly agreed to give me permission to share his pictures with all of you.  I have a small sample of his work to share and will hopefully have more available in the future.

Before we get to his spectacular artwork we have one other thing to share.  Not only is Dan an accomplished artist but he took the time to compile a painting tutorial as a PDF document.  If you like how Dan paints and want to learn his techniques please read his tutorial.  It is very nicely done.  Also please see his other works at Danaussie’s WAS Custom Painted Gallery (you can browse the folders by nation).

Please click the pictures for a larger version.

Before you click READ MORE please note that the gallery has 8 high resolution pictures. That may be resource heavy and if you use dial-up it may take a very long time to load. Dial-up users are better off going to 2010 Starter Gallery Folders and peruse the folders by nation.

3rd Annual Warhammer 40k Megabattle Pictures

Battleground Games Logo

Here are the promised pictures from Battleground Games’ 3rd Annual Warhammer 40k Megabattle.  Earlier we live-blogged the event  sharing remarks from the participants along with our own observations.

We took 200+ pictures over 4 hours.  Unfortunately a bunch of them were dreadful so we deleted those leaving behind 150+ decent pictures.  As usual we are putting the call out to all others who have pictures from the event.  We wish to share them in this single location for everyone’s viewing pleasure.

Even after that a lot of them are poorly exposed or blurry.  The camera I used wasn’t my usual and that resulted in some dreadful pictures.  I’m hoping Photoshop can clean them up enough transforming them into something decent.  Rather than make you wait for the finished product I share the first shots here.

If you have any pictures please contact me at [email protected].  Or feel free to call, txt, IM, post on the BG forums, or let me know in person.

3rd Annual Warhammer 40k Megabattle for Battleground Games

Reporting live from the third annual 40k megabattle hosted by Battleground Games in Abington.

The event is wrapping up it’s fifth turn and the game as well. The forces of Disorder have made a win by their opponents impossible by obliterating all enemy troops on the Moon table.

They credit their success to a gigantic Titan and superior intelligence. The battle wages on in the sewers where Order is slowly decimating evil’s vile stench. Or maybe that is the decomposing bodies.

The gigantic center table is up for grabs despite a valiant struggle from the Imperium’s air force.

We have tons of pics to share once their uploaded. Hopefully we’ll soon have the results. As always we eagerly wait the video footage.
