We scoured the new WD and have chosen 5 Quick Picks for your perusal. If you hate reading the entire mag, have a short attention span, or just want the best here’s 5 sections you can’t miss. Our top pick is the Middle Earth in Flames.
Don’t forget to read the complete table of contents for WD #335 from our article Inside White Dwarf #335 Dec. 2007.
- New Releases - The Blood Bowl Omnibus p. 8. Blood Bowl is a great game and being able to read three great novels combined into one for $11.99 is a great buy.
- Apocalypse Battle Report - Valley of Blood p. 18-37. The Apocalypse batreps are incredibly reading. This one shows a game played at a level most players can mimic. I want some Area Denial Nodes.
- Middle-Earth in Flames p. 40-49. Campaign rules are always fun reading. Roughly 26% of you guys love to play in leagues. There’s something about a league that breathes life into a game. Map campaigns are really good at this and this is a great introduction to LoTR campaign play.
- Golden Demon 2007 p. 66-75. Some of the nicest painted models I have ever seen. I love the France, Italy, and Gamesday LA winners.
- Ordering Direct p. 130-135. There are some great gift ideas for all price ranges. Now is to buy what your favorite gamer wants.

Drop Pods have become more and more popular for Space Marines armies lately. Yet, I’ve often heard players exclaim “they cost too much $$ for me to use!”
Minivault.com has a great article, Drop that Pod, to help you build drop pods for $5 per pod. Not a bad deal! The article provides concise and easy to follow instructions for making your own pods.
Here’s what you start with (click pics for a closer look)

Long time fans of the Star Wars Minis game will remember when the big Hoth AT-AT, see below & click the pic for a closer look, was released. This lumbering giant, the largest model for the game, prompted numerous stores to run Battle of Hoth events. I know that a very successful one was held at Battleground Games in Abington.

Now, you can run these events again with more flavor and ease. The Battle of Hoth Scenario Pack (click the pic for a closer look) is coming out featuring a re-painted AT-ST, Hologram General Veers, Snowspeeder, and other figures. This includes 17 non-randomized figures (2 very rare, 6 rare, 4 uncommon, 5 common), map, rules, life counter sheet, and a d20. I’ve only seen this, so far, online at Arcane Miniatures where it is retailing for 31.50 GBP (MSRP of 35 GBP).

I am sure it will be coming to US retailers and at a lower price than the conversion of $73.19. I’m guessing that this set will retail in America for $44.99 or $49.99. That’s not bad when you think about it. It has two huge figs, plus 1 exclusive fig, and a ton of rares.
